JPIAMR Joint Transnational Call 2019
|Diagnostics and Surveillance||
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has become one of the major global health and development challenges of the 21st century. AMR does not recognize geographic or human-animal borders, and thus addressing its rising threat requires a holistic and multi-sectoral approach.
In response to the threat of AMR, the Joint Programming Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance (JPIAMR) is launching a joint transnational call for proposals for innovative research projects on new and improved diagnostic and surveillance strategies, tools, technologies and methods. The call specifically promotes projects with partners and potential impact in areas where the risk and burden of AMR is greatest, such as low and middle-income countries in Asia and Africa. Projects are encouraged to use a One Health Approach where relevant.
The SAMRC is initially investing approximately R5 million in this joint programming call. The overall projected call budget is approximately €20 million. South African researchers are invited to form or join transnational teams together with counterparts in Africa, Asia, Europe, or North America.
Deadline for submission of preproposals: 18 February 2019.
