MRC at AIDS Vaccine Conference 2010 in Atlanta, USA

Two MRC community HIV Vaccine co-ordinators addressed a workshop at the AIDS Vaccine Conference in Atlanta this morning on the tools they use to engage communities around HIV vaccines.

Fundiswa Kibido and Loraine Mohosana from the MRC’s SAAVI programme showcased their work in relation to toolkits being used, such as fact sheets, hand-outs, steps of participation of being involved in a clinical trial, training manuals. All these toolkits were developed by the International Vaccines Initiative,  SAAVI and the International Council of AIDS service Organisations (ICASO) in conjunct on with communities in South Africa.

The workshop brought together delegates who are involved in advocacy programmes, community involvement programmes in their various organisations. Delegates in the room came from Ghana, India, South Africa, Thailand, America and Canada.
