Admission requirements
Participants must have one of these qualifications
- infection control speciality
- epidemiology
- engineering working in health services
- architecture working in health services
- laboratory technicians, microbiologists
- technical staff maintaining Infection Control equipment
- head nurses, doctors, professionals in charge of Infection Control at health facility level
- Infection Control consultants and hospital directors
Assessment
- Reaction: routine assessment of each session
- Problem solving of case studies discussed and interaction in class.
- Small groups will be requested to report back to the whole group on what they assessed during facility visits
Learning outcomes
The purpose of the course is to improve TB infection control knowledge and practical skills on how to:
- assess
- plan
- organize and implement
- monitor and evaluate implementation of TB infection control at facility levels, within the framework of the Stop TB Strategy.
This training also aims at strengthening cooperation among different sectors involved in TB control.
By the end of the course, participants will understand:
- the recommended set of measures for TB infection control as outlined in the 2009 WHO infection control policy
- their roles and responsibilities as implementers of infection control
- how to perform some technical measurements for routine maintenance and risk assessment
- how to prioritize interventions for health care facilities
- how to set targets for TB Infection control
- current WHO policy on TB Infection Control in health care facilities
Certification
To qualify for the certificate of attendance for this short course, participants should fully attend the workshop.
CEU accreditation
To be accredited, according to the HPCSA CPD Guidelines for Health Professionals.
