The South African Medical Research Council’s Office of the President seeks to appoint an experienced Senior Researcher with technical expertise in research translation, including research policy development and implementation. The incumbent must have stakeholder and community engagement facilitation skills.

Key responsibility Areas Duties: Core Requirements:
  • Manage high level stakeholders and community engagements.
  • Collaborate with Unit Directors in identifying study results that can be translated into policy.
  • Translate research findings into activities that involve community engagement.
  • Work with sub-committees on research translation to support the development of the  research translation policy and implementation plan framework.
  • Develop a discussion document on the investment case for medical research to support fund raising activities within government and international donors.
  • A Master’s degree or equivalent, preferably in a science related discipline.
  • At least 5 years relevant experience in research writing as well as translation of research findings into policy briefs.
  • A track record in publishing in non-technical publications
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing and communication skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Valid unendorsed code 8 driver’s license.

Remuneration:  A competitive package commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the candidate will be negotiated.
