Medical practitioners wanted as Principal Investigators for IKS randomized clinical trials
The Medical Research Council of South Africa was established by an act of Parliament (Act 58 of 1991) to conduct biomedical research. As such the Medical Research Council of South Africa formed the Indigenous Knowledge System (IKS) to research on traditional health practices. The IKS therefore has developed new research methodologies and platforms to evaluate traditional health claims for safety and efficacy in order to educate the public about the use of traditional medicines.
The IKS is therefore seeking for interested practicing medical practitioners to be Principal investigators in the clinical trial platforms set up by the programme. Practitioners interested in conducting randomized clinical trails for the IKS could indicate their interest by submitting a 1 page description of the facilities they will be conducting these studies from to the IKS of the Medical Research Council of South Africa.
For further clarification interested practitioners should contact the IKS Director, Dr MG Matsabisa or Ms Jessica Petersen at telephone 021 938 0475 or through fax 021 938 0410 or through emails: Motlalepula.matsabisa@mrc.ac.za or Jessica.Petersen@mrc.ac.za |
