Job opportunities at the MRC

Fixed Assets Officer

Finance Department
Cape Town

This is the ideal career opportunity for a candidate holding a Matric certificate with a 2 year National Higher Certificate in accounting.  A 3-year national diploma or degree in Accounting will be a strong recommendation. In addition, the incumbent should have at least three years’ post-qualification experience in asset management.

Key responsibilities will entail:

  • bar-coding new assets
  • processing new asset details on the asset module
  • processing asset purchases on JDE
  • performing physical asset verification
  • updating the location of movable assets
  • co-ordinating asset disposals
  • processing journals and other ad-hoc accounting functions; processing disposals on JDE; preparing asset reconciliations; preparing asset management reports.

In addition to the aforementioned requirements, appointment requires strong financial accounting, asset management and stocktaking skills, as well as sound knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act. Computer literacy (spreadsheet and accounting packages) and sound interpersonal relations are further requirements.

A competitive cost-to-company remuneration package of R207 224 – R222 766 per annum will be negotiated in accordance with qualifications and experience.
