Laboratory QA/QC Research Assistant
HIV Prevention Research Unit

2 Year Contract
The responsibility of this position is:
- Ensuring standardised system of laboratory documentation and result analysis
- Perform quality assurance and quality control on all laboratory aspects of the study from e-version and original result reports received from the outsourced laboratory to internal laboratory logs.
- Transcribe laboratory results accurately on to case report forms [CRFs]
- Datafax CRFs to the statistical centre for analysis
- Complete and follow-up on Data Clarification Forms timeously
- Submit monthly Turn Around Time and QC logs at end of each month
- Interpreting laboratory results, tracking of samples and results
- To maintain a laboratory database and preparing of clinical specimens for shipment and storage.
- Liaising with outsourced laboratories and couriers with regards to specimen processing and shipment
- Ensure systematic filling of laboratory documentation
- General assistance to study staff and study co-ordinators
- Provide back-up to studies as requested by the laboratory manager
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Medical Technician Certificate with registration with HPCSA or 2 year diploma in Biotechnology or any science research field with 1-2 years of Laboratory based experience. A 3 year degree will be a strong recommendation.
- Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedure in a routine pathology or diagnostic laboratory
- Good Clinical Laboratory Practice will be an added advantage
- Driver’s Licence will be an added advantage
A salary in the region of R149 718 – R160 946 per annum, cost-to-company will be negotiated in compliance with experience/qualifications.
