Within the South African framework, our research has the following focus:
- A focus on the psychological determinants of health and behaviour
- A focus on the inter-relationship between determinants of health and risk factors in the environment i.e. contextual determinants
- A focus on the impact of poverty, literacy, water supply, etc. as determinants of health
- Ageing and health as a critical area that must be approached multi-sectorally
- Investigation of the extent to which health as an issue is being addressed in the different government ministries with regards to how policy affects health
- Systematic development of bio-behavioural interventions
- A focus on conducting evaluations of the efficacy and effectiveness of interventions
- A focus on developing interventions on men's health and behaviour
