Highlights of Diarrhoeal pathogens Research Unit
- The establishment of
an active African Rotavirus Network where we collaborate and share technologies
with colleagues in the field of diarrhoeal disease. The network is seen
as an important resource by the Diarrhoeal Disease Vaccine Programme of
the WHO. Three rotavirus workshops that have been held at MEDUNSA, have
been supported by the WHO.
- The unit has been selected
as one of two sites in a developing country (the other in Bangladesh), to
evaluate the safety and efficacy of the candidate Glaxo Smith-Kline vaccine.
This will run in parallel with trials in the developed world.
