Ms Bok is mandated to act as an interface between the SA Medical Research Council and its stakeholders, particularly in terms of improving the relationship with key stakeholders to the mutual benefit of both parties. Ms Bok has extensive knowledge on how Government and Business operates and how best the MRC can benefit from these institutions. One of Ms Bok’s key result areas is to manage the translation and repackaging of research outputs into layman’s language, so as to strengthen the position of the MRC as a science/evidence based organisation providing credible information and policy support. She is also tasked to manage the compilation and implementation of C&PAD strategies; MRC Corporate Culture; MRC Business Plan; Annual Report and Key Performance Indicator Report.

The objective of the position is to manage the office and work flow of Corporate & Public Affairs Directorate (C&PAD), i.e. including the daily administrative functions.  Assisting and liaising with the intra- and extra-mural research units and directorates affiliated with the organization, and handling communications from the various stakeholders and role players associated with the organization.  The main purpose of the job is to ensure the effective functioning of the office at executive level, manage and coordinate priority or focus areas of C&PAD in order to ensure that the Directorate meets its objectives efficiently and effectively.

Benita is a community developer with 15 years of experience specialising in education, training and development of communities. She started her career at MRC as a project coordinator where she progressed to a researcher and currently a community liaison officer. She has extensive experience in translation of complex scientific research into simpler terminology which is accessible to diverse audiences. Part of her many duties includes acting as the interface between the MRC and communities at large.
