Message from the Director
The second African Contributors’ Meeting to be held at Lagoon Beach, Cape Town in May 2013 commemorates the 15th Anniversary of the South African Cochrane Centre. This year also marks the 20th Anniversary of the Cochrane Collaboration. So it’s time for double celebration!
The African Cochrane Indaba is an event not to be missed by anyone involved in the work of the Collaboration in Africa. It provides a unique opportunity for Africans to come together to celebrate what has been achieved, to reflect on what has worked and what hasn’t (and why) and to discuss how collaboration can be further strengthened in the years to come. Ample opportunities will be provided for updating methodological knowledge and skills, sharing best practice regarding dissemination and translation of evidence and networking.
The Indaba will also be a time to acknowledge the critical support received from funders and research partners. We are pleased that representatives of a number of Cochrane entities from around the globe, including past and present leaders of the Cochrane Collaboration, have accepted our invitation to participate in the meeting. An exciting social programme is being planned which will facilitate the renewal of the many friendships that have been formed over the past two decades between people from different backgrounds, countries, cultures and languages, through their involvement in the Collaboration..
Some of you will remember our first Cochrane contributors meeting in 2007, which was widely judged to have been a great success and a lot of fun. We think we can do even better this time round. So avoid disappointment and register now.
We hope that you will be able to join us for this momentous occasion.
