Noluntu Funani - M Med (Pharmacology), Diploma Monitoring and Evaluation Methods
Project Manager - South Africa Demographic and Health Survey (SADHS) 2016
Current Interests - Monitoring and Evaluation and Project Management

The South Africa Demographic and Health Survey (SADHS) is part of a series of national surveys to monitor health and demographic trends. The South African Department of Health conducted the first survey in 1998, and this was followed by another survey in 2003. Key indicators measured in a DHS include fertility rates, under-five mortality rates, contraceptive use, skilled assistance with births, childhood immunization coverage, nutritional status of children, women, and men, and knowledge and behaviour regarding HIV/AIDS. Also included in the surveys are “biomarker” tests, such as anaemia and HIV testing.

SADHS 2016 will be conducted in partnership with the Department of Health, Statistics South Africa and the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) with technical support from ICF International. Noluntu Funani is part of the Project Management arm that is housed within Statistics SA.
