Transcript reconstruction and gene discovery software tools (stackPACK) and
Human Transcript Database (STACKdb) were developed at SANBI and commercialised
by Electric Genetics, a company started by SANBI. This product has been described
in Nature1 and is used by more than 100 Institutions worldwide.
Retinis pigmentosa research
Prof. Hide collaborated on this research which showed that the RP1 form of
the degenerative eye disease retinitis pigmentosa is caused by a mutation
