Achievements and Awards 2010
- Christine Lochner received funding from the International College of Obsessive Compulsive Spectrum Disorders and has an ongoing NRF Grant (Competitive Funding for Rated Researchers).
- Annerine Roos was invited to attend the neuroscience school on the dopamine system in Durban in October 2010 (International Brain Research Organisation - Africa consortium) and was selected as president of this school group.
- Soraya Seedat was awarded the Africa Collaboration Grant.
- Dan Stein was awarded the Alan Pfifer Research Award and the CINP Ethics Award for Psychopharmacology.
- Sharain Suliman was awarded the Faculty of Health Sciences Clinical Research Grant and a Hendrik Vrouwes Scholarship for her work on her PhD project. She also received a prize, in the PhD category, for her oral presentation at the Medical Research Council Annual Research Day 2010.
- Harry Crossley funds were received by Christine Lochner, Lindi Martin, Karin Pretorius, Annerine Roos and Sharain Suliman.
- Sharain Suliman and Christine Lochner also received Research Assistance Funds.
Achievements and Awards 2009
- Ms Helen Ferret received a Strengthening Clinical Research Initiative (SCRI) Research Fellowship.
- Prof Christine Lochner was successful in obtaining incentive finding for rated researchers from the National Research Foundation (NRF) for the next 6 years.
- A number of unit members received Harry Crossley and/or research assistance funds for 2009: Prof Christine Lochner, Ms Lindi Martin, Ms Annerine Roos and Ms Sharain Suliman.
- Ms Jennifer Ralph and Ms Karin Pretorius won poster presentation and runner-up awards respectively, and Ms Sian Hemmings won the oral presentation award at the Annual Academic Year Day 2009, Faculty of Health Sciences. All were in the Neurosciences category.
