Call for Nominations to serve on the Board of the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC)
Cape Town | The National Department of Health invites the public to nominate potential candidates to be considered for appointment to serve on the Board of the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) for the period 2016 to 2019.
Appointed candidates will serve on the Board for a period of three years, effective from 1 November 2016 to 31 October 2019. The board of directors will comprise a complement of sixteen leaders, fourteen of whom have distinguished themselves in any branch of the medical or related sciences; one with extensive legal background and one with expertise in finance, economics and/or accounting.
Nominated candidates should be committed to the principles of good corporate governance; have the acumen to formulate and implement business strategy, define policies and priorities that are consistent with the research and developmental agenda pertaining to medical science and innovation for South Africa. Essential knowledge of risk, financial, and project management is imperative, this combined with a solid business sense of the SAMRC.
The SAMRC has demonstrated leadership in the areas of organizational transformation and prides itself in having achieved a clean audit for the past three financial periods. The organization boasts both national and international collaborative research agreements and continues to contribute to the knowledge economy of South Africa.
CLOSING DATE FOR NOMINATIONS: 24 JUNE 2016
- Nominations must be made on a prescribed nomination form obtainable from the Department of Health website: www.doh.gov.za and/or the SAMRC’s website: www.samrc.ac.za
